Life of the Civil War Soldier

Program lasts approximately 30-45 minutes. Ever wondered what it was like to be soldier in the military during the Civil War? Join a living historian as he shares the life of the soldier through sharing reproduction objects of what a soldier would have had on his person to include, the uniform, accoutrements, personal effects, a wallet, toothbrush, candles, letters, and more. The program is concluded with a musket firing demonstration.

Life on the Homefront

Program lasts approximately 30-45 minutes. Life was tough for the individual civilian during the Civil War. Meet a typical Piedmont North Carolina farmer at the Bennett Farm. Learn about cooking, household chores, gardening and farming, leisure time, and other aspects of farm life while the soldiers were off at war.

Soldier Scavenger Hunt

Program lasts approximately 30-45 minutes. Go on a Scavenger hunt through the museum and the Bennett Farm answering 25 questions about the Bennett Family, General Sherman and General Johnston, and the American Civil War. If you complete the challenge with the correct answers you will take home a special Bennett Place keepsake.
