200th Anniversary Presidential Ball for James Monroe at Historic Edenton

Event Description


April 4-5, 1819, the President of the United States James Monroe, his Secretary of War John C. Calhoun, the First Lady, and other government officials traveled to Edenton on a tour of the South. Monroe was met with a 21-gun salute and attended a public dinner at the 1767 Chowan County Courthouse. Join us for the 200 year anniversary of this momentous occasion!

Join the Friends of State Historic Sites, Edenton for a historic ball-fundraiser like no other! An in-character President James Monroe historic Interpreter will have dinner with you while historic ballroom dancing from a musical historian fills the night. Formal or period attire requested.
