5th Annual ArchaeOlympic Games at Town Creek

Event Description

Celebrate World Atlatl Day and test your abilities at prehistoric skills during Town Creek’s Fifth Annual ArchaeOlympic Games!  Enjoy the fun between 10am and 4pm on June 1st with a variety of hands-on activities. The atlatl (pronounced “at-latal” or “atal-atal”) is a spear throwing tools that preceeded the bow and arrow and is one of the oldest known hunting devices on earth.  Visitors can test their skill and accuracy throwing the atlatl dart, try a game of chunky, or attempt fire-making by bow-drill as part of the celebration.  The event is free and open to the public.
