Civil War School Days Program

Event Description

In light of Governor Cooper’s state of emergency declaration and guidance regarding canceling or postponing large gatherings in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19, our upcoming event at Bennett Place State Historic Site have been canceled. 


While we are disappointed not to be able to offer our students and their chaperones this experience, the health and safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff is always our first priority. Unfortunately, due to the complex logistics to put this event on we cannot reschedule this year.  We will, however, offer the event again next April. 


This program is designed for public, private and homeschool groups to come out and learn about both the military and the civilian aspects of the war from costumed living historians.  There will be stations set up in the historic area for students and adults alike to meet and listen to reenactors discuss different topics such as how soldiers marched and drilled, the flags of the Civil War, the postal system, the medical system and much more. Reservations are required.  There are 2 timeslots to choose from: 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm.  We are asking homeschool groups to please choose the afternoon timeslot so that public schools can have the morning time due to school and bus schedules.  Please contact the Bennett Place staff to make your reservation and for more information.
