Fort Fisher Junior Reserves--'Secret Codes and Cyphers'

Event Description

Fort Fisher's 2019 Junior Reserves summer season continues with 'Secret Codes and Cyphers,' a kid-friendly family activity. Ensuring your message reached its intended recipient accurately often meant the difference between victory or defeat. Today, we encrypt information to protect it from harm. Learn the encryption tools used during the 1860s and encrypt your own messages using codes and cipher disks that you can take home for domestic communication. The program is free, but donations are welcomed. All Fort Fisher programming is made possible through the generous support of the Friends of Fort Fisher, the support group that supports the site, the town of Kure Beach, the town of Carolina Beach, and New Hanover County. Program components are subject to change or cancellation due to weather or other factors.
