Fort Fisher's 2019 Beat the Heat Summer Lecture Series

Event Description

Fort Fisher's 2019 Beat the Heat Summer Lecture Series continues with “Attempting to Stop Sherman: The Battle of River’s Bridge SC,” as presented by Mr. Jim Steele, site manager of Fort Fisher State Historic Site.

In February 1865, Confederate forces in South Carolina attempted to stop the Federal Army marching to Columbia. In the swamps of central South Carolina, a sharp battle ensued as both armies met. Join us as site manager Jim Steele discusses this engagement in Sherman’s South Carolina campaign. The presentation is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Please call the site at 910-251-7340 to reserve a seat. The presentation will begin promptly at 2 pm in the Spencer Theater. All Fort Fisher programming is made possible by the Friends of Fort Fisher and its sustaining members, along with generous support from the town of Carolina Beach and the town of Kure Beach.
