Mapping the New World at Historic Bath

Event Description

An exhibit of 29 maps, dating from the 1540s to the 1850s, give a unique perspective on how our perception of the New World evolved over time. The maps provide a look at early cartography, including oddities such unusually-oriented coastlines and an incomplete understanding of the size of North and South America. From early depictions of sea monsters and shipwrecks to the precisely accurate maps of the 19th century, visit our Exhibit Center to view these intriguing glimpses into our past.

Open 10:00am to 4:00pm, Tuesdays-Saturdays through June 2019. For more information on the current displays, please visit our Exhibit Center page.

This exhibit is made possible by a generous donation by Gene Roberts.
