Our Melancholy Duty: Death and Mourning in Antebellum Society

Event Description

"Our Melancholy Duty" was a term used by one reporter to describe the death of Gov. James Iredell Jr. This special one-time only nighttime tour will take you through historic St. Paul's cemetary, an Antebellum house in mouring, before ending with a discussion about death and mourning practices at the Visitor Center.

Tour will leave the Visitor Center at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, & 7:30. Tour groups will be limited to 20 people. Cost will be $15.00 per person, children under the age of 5 are free.
