Rust & Dust Show at Horne Creek

Event Description

4th Annual Horne Creek Farm Rust and Dust Show & Conclusion of HCF Quilt Exhibition.

10:00 am – 4:00 am.

Stover, Hercules, International Harvester (McCormick Deering), John Deere, and Fairbanks Morse are names evocative of truly great manufacturers of engines. At one point in time, they all made hit-and-miss engines, which were a type of four-stroke internal combustion engine controlled by a governor to operate at a set speed. Horne Creek’s volunteers and staff will have a variety of old hit-and-miss engines on display and in operation; ranging from ¾ horsepower to 12 horsepower. A variety of tractors, a Maytag washing machine, ice cream freezers, a wood saw, grist mill, and 49’Willis Jeep with farm hitch are just a few examples of old equipment which will be powered by these engines.  An 8 – 16 -mile tractor ride will also be part of the day’s activities, leaving from the parking lot of Horne Creek at 1:00 pm.

If you want to bring a piece of equipment for the event, contact Frank Hamby at 336-325-2426.

Admission to the event is free, although donations are highly encouraged and welcomed.

No pets (other than service dogs) or alcohol are allowed. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
