31st Annual Christmas Open House

Close up view of Christmas greenery on a mantel with a candle, in the background is a dresser with mirror and greenery.

'Tis the season! Explore, enjoy, and experience the Christmas season at Somerset Place for the 31st Annual Christmas Open House on Sunday, December 5th, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Be inspired by traditional holiday decorations of fresh natural and floral arrangements adorning the exterior and interior of site buildings. Explore the plantation on a self-guided tour with staff members and volunteers available to answer questions. A costumed doctor from the mid-nineteenth century will also be on hand to discuss antebellum medicine in the plantation hospital.

Sip hot spiced tea, and sample black-eyed peas, hearth-cooked cornbread, and delicious desserts. Enjoy period Christmas music with instrumentalist Robert Waters of Columbia, N.C. For younger audiences, jolly Saint Nicholas will mingle on the grounds from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Admission is free but donations are welcome.

COVID-19 safety precautions will be in place for food service. Given the continued threat of COVID-19 and variants of the virus, face masks are required for indoor areas of Somerset Place State Historic Site. Please maintain social distancing.
