We are excited to partner with the American Myth Center for a sixth year of this magical program! As in years past, the AMC will utilize toy and shadow theater to share the life of Venus, a woman enslaved by the Vances, during live theatrical tours at the Vance Birthplace. The ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future will illuminate her story as visitors walk the site. These 25 minute tours encourage visitors to think about the power of empathy.

Theatrical tours of the site will leave from the visitor center every half hour starting at 6:00 pm, with the final tour at 8:30. Reservations are strongly encouraged, and can be made through Eventbrite.

After each tour, visitors are encouraged to return to our Visitor Center to talk with staff and visit our classroom where they can view the panel discussions from community members from previous years and hear present day discussion around how historic sites interpret slavery.

*The second weekend in December is often rainy and/or snowy in Weaverville. In case of inclement weather during either evening of the program, we will host a rain date performance on Sunday, December 11.
