Environmental Education Day

We are partnering with the NC Cooperative Extension in Lenoir County, Kinston Fire Department, Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary, and more community organizations to host an environmental education day at the Governor Richard Caswell Memorial on April 1st!

(Horticulture)- importance of pollinators
(FCS)- herbs & uses - sustainable cooking
(Livestock)- animal waste & environment 
(Farm Safety)- weather safety
(PAT)- recycled crafts for kids 
(field crops)- soil & crops
(4-H)- energy 
Master Gardeners- gardening/ plants 

In addition, come get your hands dirty as we begin an adventure in agriculture by  lending a hand to do some planting in our new interpretive garden space. Our staff will be working in the garden and talking about how the plants and techniques for gardening have changed since the 18th century. Help us put down the roots of success with this new program. find out how you can assist us grow by becoming a volunteer.
