Celebrate the 247th anniversary of the adoption of the Halifax Resolves, the first official action by an entire colony recommending independence from Great Britain. The Historical Halifax Restoration Association will host the annual Halifax Day ceremony at 2 p.m. featuring State Archivist, Sarah Koonts, as guest speaker. First Lady of North Carolina, Kristin Cooper plans to attend the program this year, and will bring greetings and opening remarks. First Lady Cooper will be introduced by Reid Wilson, Secretary of Natural and Cultural Resources. A reception at the nearby Bradford-Denton House will follow the afternoon program. The NC Society Sons of the American Revolution will host a wreath-laying ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at the colonial courthouse site, adjacent to the site's visitor center. The site's historic buildings will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for tours and living history activities. Free.
