Old Christmas at Historic Bath

-

In 1752, the American colonies adopted the Gregorian calendar, resulting in the beloved date of Christmas - January 5th - being moved to December 25th. In rebellion, some North Carolinians began to celebrate both dates. Bring your family and join us during the week after Christmas for crafts, games, food, and ringing in of the new year as we celebrate Old Christmas. Activities are different each day and run from 10am-3pm.

  • Wednesday the 28th: Make paper Dresden ornaments in the Vanderveer House.
  • Thursday the 29th: Learn more about traditional foods in the Bonner Kitchen and taste fresh gingerbread.
  • Friday the 30th: Make a cornhusk doll and dip a candle to gift to a loved one at the Vanderveer House.
  • Saturday the 31st: Ring in the New Year with musket firing demonstrations, games, and dancing at the Vanderveer House!
