Eastern North Carolina is steeped in a rih and deep-rooted story – that of the waterways that make this place a celebrated and unique part of the eastern seaboard. Join us at Historic Bath State Historic Site to travel back in time to the days when water was the lifeblood of our state.
Bath’s most prosperous periods were in the 18th and early 19th centuries. As North Carolina’s first incorporated town and port, Bath served as the hub of commerce. While you explore this historic town, visit the buildings and costumed interpreters who tell the stories of the past. Family-friendly, hands-on activities provide fun ways to discover more about the history of Eastern North Carolina. Themed tours and workshops are also scheduled throughout the day, covering topics such as archeological digs in the town of Bath, the process of discovery of the Palmer-Marsh House, and caring for artifacts in your own home.
