Boy Scout Troops can attend this workshop to earn the Mining in Society merit badge. All requirements necessary for completion will be addressed during the workshop, but materials will be provided for Scouts to review before coming to Reed. The workshop includes a PowerPoint program on the badge requirements, time for Scouts to view the museum exhibits and a guided tour of the underground mine. The fee for this workshop is $15 per person, and each workshop is limited to 25 Scouts, but a minimum of 10 are needed to hold the workshop.
This is an opportunity for Scouts to earn a merit badge not often offered to troops, but helps explain how mining generates the materials needed for our daily lives.
The Geology merit badge may also be offered by the end of 2022, and into 2023.
