Spring Heritage Trees Sale. Horne Creek Living Historical Farm.
Visit Horne Creek Farm on Saturday, March 19th to purchase a unique item, an heirloom apple tree grafted from our orchard to plant around the home or farm. Purchases a tree and help celebrate North Carolina’s Arbor Day on Friday the 18th of March. This spring our apple tree inventory is limited but we are sure you can find one that you like. Spring Apple Trees are available on B9 and G202 rootstock only. B9 grows the smallest tree and is a fully dwarfing rootstock. G202 is a semi-drafting rootstock that produces a bigger tree, however both rootstocks(trees) require tree support. M111 trees will be available at our fall tree sale.
Also, Horne Creek will have some peach trees for purchase. Purchase a peach tree to plant this spring. One of our trees would make a great present! The site has three varieties of peach trees available:
Elberta is a yellow peach which is very good for eating or cooking. Belle of Georgia (known to us as Georgia Belle) is a white peach excellent for eating. It doesn't translate as well for cooking because the flavor goes slightly bland. Indian Cling is a red peach which is great for pickling.
Each tree costs $22.50. Money generated from the sale of our trees helps with the upkeep of the Southern Heritage Apple Orchard. So, come on out and help preserve an integral part of the south’s agricultural heritage. Please Note: Last year, even though we had an ample supply of trees, they rapidly sold out. Arrive early or call the site at (336) 325-2298 to determine availability
Trees will be sold at the Horne Creek Farm Visitor Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fee for each tree: $22.50.
Customers are encouraged to know and follow the Ws: Wear a cloth face mask over your nose and mouth, wait six feet apart, and wash your hands or use hand sanitizer.
