"A Terrible Storm of Iron and Lead" Summer Artillery Program at Ft. Fisher

Join us for a special summer event about Civil War artillery on June 21st, 2025!
General admission is FREE, no tickets required for entry. Doors open at 9:00am and close at 5:00pm. 
Public programs will be held between 10:00am and 4:00pm.
View these programs below, many of which will be performed by costumed reenactors (participation by invitation only):
-Artillery Firing Demonstrations- Learn how historical cannons were operated, and witness their power in firing demonstrations!*
-Guest Speaker- Welcome Wade Sokolosky, presenting the research for his new volume, "North Carolina’s Confederate Hospitals, 1864-1865."**
-Living History Displays- Join our dedicated community partners and immerse yourself in details of daily life during the Civil War and beyond!
-Children's Activities- Bring the family for educational summer fun!
*Artillery Demonstrations held in the Fort Grove at 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm
**Guest Speaker Presentation held at 1:00pm
Please consider carpooling with friends and family wherever possible! Limited extra parking is available at Battle Acre Road. The gate to the main parking lot is to be locked at 5:00pm.
