Join us for an evening beneath one of the last great dark sky sites in the North Carolina Piedmont, and don’t forget to bring your binoculars! Doors open at 6 and the event kicks off at 6:30pm with the indoor presentation “What’s Up?” – an introduction to the planisphere, an overview of sights to be seen this evening, and some of the lore surrounding them. Then, naked eye viewing of the constellation Wintermaker; the planets Jupiter, Mars, and Venus, as we guide participants on a tour of the heavens. Bundle up and bring your lawn chair or blanket to relax beneath the firmament. Enjoy the view as we hunt for passing satellites and discuss visible constellations. We will have the telescope set up to share views and visitors are encouraged to bring telescopes and binoculars of their own. Make your reservation by phone, or by email by sending: your name, cell phone number, and how many people will be in your group. Tickets will be $4 at the door. There is no rain date, and we will use the reservation information to keep you informed if weather becomes a concern.
This will be a dark night, and only red filtered light will be allowed in the viewing area.
