Learn how Twelfth Night became the "vanishing holiday." Once the annual peak of parties, gift giving and weddings, Twelfth Night was gradually absorbed and squeezed out during the 19th century.
Dr. Hugh Dussek, Professor of History and the History and Geography Department Chair at CPCC, will discuss the prominence of the holiday from its medieval origins to celebrations in colonial Carolina.
The presentation is 11 a.m. - noon at the James K. Polk State Historic Site. There is no admission charge, but reservations are required and there is a suggested donation of $5 for adults, $2 for children and seniors.
