Summer 2026 Internship Application
Duration of Internship: May 26, 2026 – August 1, 2026
The CSS Neuse Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am-5 pm
INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS
- 18+ years old.
- College sophomore or higher. Graduate students and recent graduates (within 2 years of graduation) may also apply.
- In good academic standing.
- Minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Availability Requirements:
- All applicants must have at least 10 hours of weekday availability.
- The deadline to apply for a summer internship is April 4, 2026.
- Flexible hours to accommodate part-time jobs and other commitments.

FOR CREDIT OR EXPERIENCE
- Credit internships—135 hrs. or however many hours are required by your university, whichever is higher. The academic advisor or class professor must sign off to approve credit (includes project).
- Non-credit/experience internships—120 hrs. (includes project). Does not need a signature.
Desired Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of North Carolina history and a willingness to learn about artifact care and handling. Skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook, effective written and verbal communication, and the ability to deliver courteous and professional customer service.

Current Volunteer Positions Needed
Visitor Services
· Welcome visitors to the museum and assist with the admission process.
· Start the orientation film and provide a brief orientation to the exhibit space prior to visitors going on a self-guided tour.
· Assist with running the cash register for the gift shop and restocking merchandise.
Education and Outreach
· Assist with field trips, homeschool day programs, and special events.
· Assist with creating new educational programming.
· Set up a table at events and share information about educational offerings and special events at the CSS Neuse Museum.
