Admission

Admission to Visitor Center is free and houses changing exhibitions and a 13 minute video on the history of Edenton.

Fees are charged for guided tours of the neighboring historic sites.

All three tours above for $5 per person;
Children's and group rates are available.

*Tickets available for purchase at the Visitor's Center, the Lighthouse, or the Courthouse, cash or check only at this time. No tickets are sold at the Iredell House.

Facilities and Handicapped Accessibility

Visitor Center
The visitor center, located in the Ziegler House (1892), features town and local information, a thirteen-minute audiovisual program about Edenton’s history, exhibits, and public bathrooms. Handicapped accessible.

The James Iredell House

The historic site includes the furnished James Iredell House (1800/1827), an eighteenth-century necessary, a one-room building (1756), a nineteenth-century carriage house, a one-room schoolhouse (ca. 1828), and a dairy, kitchen, and smokehouse (ca. 1828). The schoolhouse, smokehouse, kitchen, and dairy were moved to the site from the plantation home of novelist Inglis Fletcher, Bandon. Tour lasts appx. 30 minutes and has stairs at both entrances. The grounds are open for self-guided touring. The home is not handicapped accessible.

The 1767 Chowan County Courthouse

This tour provides access to the downstairs colonial-style courtroom and upstairs ballroom/meeting area. Tour lasts appx. 20 minutes. Both levels are handicapped accessible.

Also available for wedding/event rentals.

The 1886 Roanoke River Lighthouse

This tour provides access to the deck of the lighthouse, the downstairs and upstairs living quarters, and access to the third floor cupola. Tour lasts appx. 20 minutes. The deck and the first floor are handicapped accessible.

Also available for wedding/event rentals.

Picnic Facilities
Picnic facilities are available on the Edenton waterfront.
