This dinner theater event is being held in honor of National Nurses Week, May 6-May 12, designated to recognize nurses' contributions to communities. May 6 is National Nurses Day, and May 12 is the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

Join us at the Governor Richard Caswell Memorial as we honor Caswell’s long service as a political leader of the British colony and the fledgling State of North Carolina. A living history event will take place with members of the Dobbs County Militia reenactment group, showing how they prepared for the coming conflict with Great Britain.

Have you ever wondered why people wear black to funerals? Or how did people in the Victorian era mourn the loss of their loved ones? On October 12, reenactor and historian Thomas Bailey will be exhibiting his extensive collection of mourning items, including dresses, jewelry, and more, for visitors to explore and learn more about funeral customs and how some of the mourning traditions from the past are still practiced today. In addition, the site staff will discuss the mourning items and hair jewelry currently on display in the CSS Neuse Museum.
