It's that time of year again! Historic Bath will hold STEAM Saturday programs every Saturday from July 6th to August 17th! (There will not be a STEAM Saturday on July 20th, due to our Pirates in the Port Event.) This year we have some new activities planned, along with some of our old favorites, but with a new twist. As always, programs will be held at the Bonner Point/ House area. Programs are geared towards ages 6-12, but welcome to all. This year, there will be two big differences:

Calling all sailors and seafarers! Chart your course for Historic Bath on Saturday, July 20th and discover the fascinating world of 18th-century sailors who worked the waterways of Eastern North Carolina.Visit the Tavern to hear the latest news and learn about the food and drink of the era. Talk with members of the Leviathan Crew at Bonner Point. Experience weapons demonstrations, hands-on activities, and don’t forget to visit the Exhibit Center for a fun scavenger hunt!

In the 1750s and 1760s, two of Bath’s taverns were women owned. These women successfully asserted themselves in the public sphere in a time when status was defined by property ownership. Join us on March 2nd, 10-3 and explore an 18th century tavern, speak with costumed interpreters, or purchase a ticket to tour the Palmer-Marsh House and learn more about Bath in the pre-revolutionary era.Visiting the Exhibit Center and the Tavern is free of charge.

Immerse yourself in the ambiance of the Old Christmas season at Historic Bath! Join us at the Bonner House from 10am to 3pm and take part in the festivities.Learn about the holiday traditions of early 19th century North Carolina. Experience holiday cooking over an open hearth and taste fresh gingerbread. Make historic ornaments, decorate a tree, play games, and drink cider by the bonfire.At 5pm, come back and enjoy the Christmas tradition of stories around the bonfire. Bring your own s’mores and hot chocolate and enjoy an evening under the stars.

Eastern North Carolina is steeped in a rich and deep-rooted story – that of the waterways that make this place a celebrated and unique part of the eastern seaboard. Have you ever been curious what it would be like to attend a country dance in the 19th century?

Join Mr. and Mrs. Bonner at their home for a delightful evening of games and dancing! Costumed interpreters will teach you how to play 19th century parlor games and walk you through the steps of a country dance. No experience required! Play a spirited round of croquet or lawn bowls, and enjoy the genial company of your hosts while enjoying views of Bath Creek. Light refreshments served in the garden.
