Need a venue for your next event? Located conveniently between Greensboro and Burlington, the Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum is the perfect location for you! Our historic Kimball Hall, once the setting of meals for the students at the Palmer Memorial Institute, can be the backdrop for your meeting, birthday party, or wedding. 

Available Tuesday-Saturday from 9am-11pm, please see the brochure below for pricing details and call our staff for availability. 

Rental agreements and deposits must be finalized no less than two weeks out from your event.

Kimball Hall

Renovated in 2015, Kimball Hall provides a perfect space for your banquet, wedding, meeting, and more. Available 9am-11pm on Tuesday-Saturday, Kimball features a 2400sqft ballroom that can be set up in a banquet style or auditorium style with a maximum occupancy of 191.

The hourly rate for Kimball Hall is $125 per hour. There are no discounts offered. You are required to reserve the time you need for set up and clean up. 

We require a security deposit of $125 to be paid separately from the rest of the rental fee.

There are event packages available to bundle hours or if you would like access to the space over multiple days. The packages are:

Option A - $1,800

Use of Kimball Hall for 12 hours on the day of your event

Use of Kimball Hall for set up & rehearsal on the day before your event from 9am-7pm

 

Option B - $1,000

Use of Kimball Hall for 7 hours on the day of your event

Use of Kimball Hall for set up & rehearsal on the day before your event from 12pm-7pm

 

Option C - $800 

Use of Kimball Hall for 7 hours on the day of your event

If you provide the staff with your event set up at least 2 weeks before your event, we can set up the space for you. Otherwise, we will make our equipment available to you for you to set up during your reservation time.

What is the address for Kimball Hall?

Where is the parking for Kimball Hall?

There are two parking lots available for Kimball Hall. One is located behind Stouffer Hall, the other is located beside Kimball Hall. Both lots are shown below with white stars.

Can my guests park in the main site parking lot?

               We ask that your guests utilize the parking at and around Kimball Hall, especially if your rental will last after 5pm. The site closes at 5pm, and the main gates will be closed at that time. Any cars left in the main site parking lot will be locked in until the next business day.

 

Can I park in the grass around Kimball Hall?

               Please do your best to avoid parking in the grass. We ask that everyone park in designated parking spots. If you or your guests park in non-designated areas, it is at your own risk. You will be responsible for any towing needs.

 

What is included in my rental?

             Included in each rental are: tables and chairs, access to the projector, access to the prep kitchen, stage set-up, and wifi access. Stage requests and set-up needs must be provided at least one week in advance. Our staff will set up tables and chairs. You are free to adjust them as needed. WiFi access is also available upon request in advance.

 

What is not included in my rental?

             Linens, decorations, chair covers, computer for projector use.

 

How can I affix decorations to the space?

             Command strips or tape can be used to affix decorations to the walls. Materials that may cause holes are prohibited. (i.e. use of nails, use of thumbtacks, etc). Please refrain from using tape on the floor. Please refrain from using confetti.

 

Do you have a list of approved vendors/recommended vendors?

             We do not have a list of approved vendors for our space.

 

Can I leave the doors open to Kimball?

               Please do not leave the doors open to ensure our heating and air functions properly.

 

 

Where is emergency information located?

               An AED, fire extinguisher and emergency contact list is located in the elevator lobby.

 

 

Do I need to put up tables and chairs after my rental?

               Please leave the space exactly as you found it. Do not put away tables and chairs at the end of your rental.

 

 

What do I need to do before I leave?

               All trash should be removed (including food trash, decorations, and other). Please ensure all of your items are removed from the building. Once the site is closed, we do not reopen until the next business day (Tues-Sat 9am-5pm).

 

 

What do I do with trash at the end of my rental?

               The dumpster is located at the back of the Stouffer parking lot. Please dump all trash there. If trash cans are filled during your event, please empty them and replace bags at that time. If trash is left in Kimball Hall after your rental, you will forfeit your security deposit and may be subject to an additional cleaning fee (see rental agreement).

 

 

Where can I find clean up materials? (I.e trash bags, mop, broom)

               Extra trash bags, broom & dustpan, and Swiffer mop can be found in the side closet of the main ballroom. If there is a large spill, broken glass, or any other damages, please contact the staff representative on-site ASAP.

 

What if I leave something at the site?

               You can call our Visitor Center the next business day to check if we have found the item you lost. If we find the lost item, feel free to stop by the Visitor Center to retrieve the item, Tues-Sat 9am-4:30pm.

 

Can I drop off decorations and other materials before my rental?

               You will not have access to the space before your agreed-upon rental time. Access to Kimball is only allowed during the times listed in your rental agreement. We are unable to offer access to Kimball Hall before your rental time.

 

How do I ensure I have time before and after my event to set up and clean up?

               The time outlined in your rental contract must include set up and clean up. The space should be cleared, and guests should be leaving the grounds by the agreed-upon end time listed in your contract. If there is any overstay, you will incur an over-stay fee (see rental agreement).

 

What if I need to add time to my rental after signing my contract?

               Pending staff availability and approval, additional time can be added for $125/hour.

 

What if I need to change my date or time after signing my contract?

               If something comes up and you need to change the original date or time you will be required to fill out and sign an addendum to your original contract with the new date and time.

 

Can we take a tour of the site?

              If you/your group would like to set up a guided tour for the day of your rental, please check with our staff regarding time and availability (at least two weeks in advance for 10+ people). Our last guided tour of the day begins no later than 3:30pm. There is an additional fee associated with tours.

 

How do I get my $125 security deposit back?

               The rental coordinator will reach out to you within a week after your event to let you know if you are eligible to receive your security deposit back. If it is cash, we ask that you come pick it up at our Visitor Center, if you paid with check we can shred it for you, or you can pick it up at the Visitor Center during business hours.

Massachusetts Cottage

Massachusetts (Mass) Cottage is the perfect space for smaller meetings and events. Formerly used as housing for young girls in their senior year, the first level of Mass is available for hourly rentals. 

 

The rental space includes the former living room and dining room as open, connected spaces and two rooms with doors that close, this space can be used for regular organization meetings, as additional space for your wedding or conference in Kimball Hall and more!

Massachusetts (Mass) Cottage is available for $75 per hour from Tuesday-Saturday 9am-11pm. You are required to reserve the time you need for set up and clean up. There is a $125 security deposit that must be paid separately from the rental fee.
