For Educators

 

Looking for something fun to do this summer? Why not come out to Governor Charles B. Aycock Birthplace! We have living history demonstrations and hands on activities! Fun for all ages!

Schedule a Field Trip!

Programs offered:

  • Farming: where does our food come from?
  • From Sheep to Clothes, how clothes are made
  • School Days
  • Preschool Program for ages 3-5

Each program includes a hands-on activity, a tour of the school house, homestead and kitchen, and a video presentation on the Aycock’s. Each program has a minimum of 10 participants. Each program has a fee of $2.00 per child. Please make checks payable to Aycock Birthplace. For more information please contact Leigh Strickland at (919) 242-5581 or leigh.strickland@ncdcr.gov

We have created a Google Classroom to allow students and families to learn about the site, Governor Aycock, and some of the controversial issues of his time. The classroom features information, videos, and activities about Governor Charles B. Aycock, Aycock Birthplace, the 1898 Wilmington Race Riot, early education, 1870s farm life, primary source analysis, and more.
