Join us at Alamance Battleground to learn about the traditions, foodways, and culture of North Carolina's German communities as we celebrate the Christmas holiday with our special event, "German Christmas in Colonial Carolina." By the 1770s, the backcountry of North Carolina boasted several communities of Germans who had settled here after migrating from their original settlements in Pennsylvania. They brought with them their traditions and culture that still shape our region today. $5 Adults - $2 Children

Join the Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum and Town of Sedalia for our annual tree lighting event! With vendors, live music, and Santa.

Come and experience history through arts, crafts, guided tours, and activities! This annual event will feature opportunities to learn about plantation life through historic trades and crafts, living history, hands-on activities with historic interpreters, and tours of the plantation. Historian Gary Riggs will discuss Civil War medicine by the reconstructed hospital. Enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides along the historic carriage drives. The Washington Underground Railroad Museum will be here again with their wonderful interactive presentation.

For this event, we're proud to partner with Duke University students to highlight how history & science can go hand-in-hand to teach us about the world around us.  At 1pm, Duke graduate student Kalei Porter will lead a guided tour of the nature trail to explore how history and science meet.
