Horne Creek will hold its “Heirloom Apple Tree Sale” beginning Saturday, September 7, and continuing until all the trees are sold out. The sale will be held at the back of the Horne Creek Visitor Center from 9 am - 4 pm each day, Tuesday - Saturday. The trees will be $24 each.

In 2026, America will commemorate 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the development of a new nation dedicated to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Join Horne Creek Farm for our annual Cornshucking Frolic on Saturday, October 19th from 10 am - 5pm. The day will highlight history, heritage crafts, music, and fun!

The event is sponsored and organized by the North Carolina Living Historical Farm Committee, Inc.

Come out to the farm and learn about Horne Creek's Gulf Coast Native Sheep. Then, watch as staff and volunteers shear some of our wooly friends for the spring.

Shearing will take place two times on the 27th: 10:00 am - 11:45 am and 1:30 pm - 2:45 pm.

Come out and learn how to graft an apple tree. Jason Bowen, Horne Creek Farm’s horticulturist, will be on hand to share his knowledge of southern apple varieties and conduct a grafting seminar. Jason will lead you through the process of splicing dormant scion wood and root stocks.

During our Spring Sale, Horne Creek's Southern Heritage Apple Orchard will have plenty of apple varieties to choose from -- Blacktwig, Virginia Beauty, Arkansas Black, Grimes Golden, and Wolf River are just a few available to purchase.

Horne Creek's Christmas by Lamplight offers an evening filled with the warmth and beauty of a rural turn-of-the-century farmhouse. Take a few hours away to reflect on the holiday season. You’ll enjoy caroling, a craft project, and readings from the period. Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served.
