Join us for the Women of Somerset Place Tour – Every Wednesday and Saturdays in March 2025, 10:00 - 11:00 am. Learn about some of the remarkable women who lived and worked at Somerset Place. The 60- minute special tour will focus on the contributions that enslaved and free women made to the development, maintenance, and infrastructure of Somerset Place.  The tour will be offered to commemorate Women’s History Month.

'Tis the season! Explore, enjoy, and experience the Christmas season at Somerset Place for the 34th Annual Christmas Open House on Sunday, December 1st, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. This year's Christmas Open House will be held in honor of former site employee Tad Howington.Be inspired by traditional holiday decorations of fresh natural and floral arrangements adorning the exterior and interior of site buildings. Explore the plantation on a self-guided tour with staff members and volunteers available to answer questions.

Discover the history & culture of Lake Scuppernong's Indigenous Community as we highlight American Indian Heritage Month. Interact with exhibits & demonstrations to learn about Indigenous ways of life. Participate in historic games & crafts. Enjoy popcorn, pumpkin painting, hayrides, & guided tours at 10:30, 12:00. & 1:30.  Donations appreciated, additional tour fees applicable. 
June 8, 2024, 10am - 3pm
Come and experience history through arts, crafts, guided tours, and activities! This annual event will feature opportunities to learn about plantation life through historic trades and crafts, living history, hands-on activities with historic interpreters, and tours of the plantation. Historian Gary Riggs will discuss Civil War medicine by the reconstructed hospital. Enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides along the historic carriage drives. The Washington Underground Railroad Museum will be here again with their wonderful interactive presentation.

Historian Chris Grimes will discuss Seaman/Pvt. Israel Pearce's life story while serving in the North Carolina Continental Line and how he advocated for himself as a veteran in the years after the American Revolution.

February 1 marks the start of #BlackHistoryMonth! To commemorate the African diaspora and the impact Black culture has made on United States history, we will re-open our Africa to Carolina exhibit to the public.
