This annual event will feature opportunities to learn about plantation life through historic trades and crafts, living history, hearth cooking, hands-on activities with historic interpreters, and tours of the plantation.

Somerset Black History Month Lecture, Saturday, February 19, 2022; 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Join us as we commemorate Black History Month with a virtual program featuring Kiana Fekette. She will be presenting her research on Somerset’s archaeological collections of personal adornments recovered from the former enslaved community archaeological excavations conducted at Somerset Place in the 1980s and 90s. The presentation will be followed by a Q and A session.

'Tis the season! Explore, enjoy, and experience the Christmas season at Somerset Place for the 31st Annual Christmas Open House on Sunday, December 5th, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Be inspired by traditional holiday decorations of fresh natural and floral arrangements adorning the exterior and interior of site buildings. Explore the plantation on a self-guided tour with staff members and volunteers available to answer questions. A costumed doctor from the mid-nineteenth century will also be on hand to discuss antebellum medicine in the plantation hospital.
