Jeff Bockert

East Region Supervisor

Jeff Bockert has been the East Region Supervisor for the Division of State Historic Sites since 2011. He directs operations for twelve state historic sites from Durham to the coast. Working with a full-time staff of 58 employees, Jeff supervises all site operations, exhibits, educational programming and visitor services for the East Region sites. 

Prior to becoming East Region Supervisor, Jeff served as the Education Specialist for the Division of State Historic Sites, Civil War Specialist for the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, Site Manager at the James K. Polk State Historic Site, Associate Curator on board the Battleship North Carolina, and Archives Technician at the National Archives in Washington, DC. 

Jeff holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in United States History from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Master of Arts Degree in Modern European History from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Jeff is a member of the American Association for State and Local History, National Association for Interpretation, North Carolina Museums Council and the Association for Living History, Farm, and Agricultural Museums. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Goldsborough Bridge Battlefield Association and the Friends of Cliffs of the Neuse State Park. Jeff also serves as a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
