Guided Tours

Guided tours of the birthplace are provided upon request. We ask that groups make reservations in advance.

Guided tour fees:

  • Children (ages 0-2): Free
  • Youth (ages 3-17): $1
  • Seniors (ages 65+), Military: $1
  • Adults (ages 18-64): $2

Historic Structures
The site has a collection of reconstructed and original buildings that would have existed on the farm during Governor Aycock's childhood. These buildings include the house or "Birthplace," a detached kitchen/dining room, pantry, smokehouse, outhouse, storage barn, and livestock barn. Also on site is an example of a one-room schoolhouse that dates to 1893.

Visitor Center
Exhibits and an audiovisual program showcase the life, contributions, and legacy of Governor Charles B. Aycock. 

Trails, Monuments, Outdoor Exhibit
Aycock's parents, siblings, and other descendants are buried in the family cemetery. The site has a kitchen garden and small crop field. 

Handicapped Accessibility
The Visitor Center is fully accessible. The historic buildings have steps but are not fully accessible without assistance. A video tour and photo album are available in the Visitor Center. 

Picnic Facilities
A picnic shelter with picnic tables are available at the site.

Gift Shop
A sales desk is located in the Visitor Center with items related to Aycock and North Carolina history.
