On Saturday, May 18th Alamance Battleground will host a reenactment of the 1771 Battle of Alamance. Visitors will experience the smoke and power of six cannons firing against protesting farmers in the violent conclusion to the Regulator movement. Visitors will also learn about the Regulators; North Carolina farmers protesting corrupt government and learn about the forces under the command of Governor Tryon sent to suppress them. The site will open at 9:00 and close at 5:00. Admission is $5 Adults and $2 Children/Seniors.
Join us for a day of outdoor recreation, music, and history, as Alamance Battleground officially opens the Memorial Trail, a brand new half mile trail winding through recently acquired land. Ribbon cutting will take place at 10 a.m., and the Hawfield Jammers will play at 11 a.m. During the day, guided nature walks will be scheduled, or you can enjoy the new trail on your own.
