Apple Pancakes Recipe
Makes 12 Pancakes
- 1¼ cups flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¾ teaspoons salt
- 1-1/3 cup milk
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 medium apple, peeled, cored & chopped
Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together in the large mixing bowl. Add the milk, egg, and apple and stir just until flour is moistened.
Procedure:
Assign jobs among the children; one can peel and chop the apple while a couple others mix up the pancake batter. Heat the skillet on the stove, coat the bottom with shortening. When the pan is hot, pour in about ¼ cup batter for each pancake. When the top of the pancake is bubbly and the edges look dry, flip the pancake over to cook the other side. Serve each child a pancake on a paper plate with a napkin and a fork. Let them add butter and syrup to taste. When everyone has finished eating, assign each child a task to help clean up and put away utensils.
