Making Apple Fritters
“Make a batter, not very stiff with 1 qt. milk, 3 eggs and flour to bring it to right consistency. Pare and core a dozen large apples and chop them to size of peas. Mix well with batter. Fry in lard. Trim with powdered white sugar.”

Time: 20 – 25 minutes. (Longer if you are doing this with a large number of children)
Materials:
- eggs
- milk
- flour
- apples
- lard or Crisco
- powdered sugar
- mixing bowl
- frying pan
- spatula
- paper plates
- paper towels
Procedure:
Combine milk and eggs. Whisk. Add in flour slowly. Stir in chopped apples. Mix batter well. Drop dollops into hot lard or Crisco. Upon removal, place on a paper towel on a paper plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
