Apple Shapes

When viewing an apple from the side, apples are typically either roundish, oblate, or oblong shapes.  In addition to these three shapes, apples can also taper towards the bottom, which is categorized as conical.  Some apples have segmented forms or lobes protruding from the sides. These are described as ribbed or lobed. An apple can be a mixture of these shapes, which would be described, for example, as "roundish conical," or "oblong ribbed."

round apple

oblate apple -- appears as a flattened circle oblong apple - appears as an oval apple   roundish conical apple - appears as a round apple with a tapered end

ribbed or lobed apple - appears as an apple with various bumps or bulges
